The state of California is currently divided.
A faction of liberals want to separate a section of the state from California and are lobbying for a free and fair independent state.
Robert Paul Preston and Tom Reed, the founders of the movement which launched in 2016, have named their proposed new state New California.
Robert Paul Preston and Tom Reed gave their reason for wanting to dissociate from California as fact that California has become ‘ungovernable’.
The new state of California is proposed to encompass mostly the rural areas of California.
These areas include Redding and Eureka to the north, Fresno and San Jose in the center with San Diego to the south.
‘Old’ California would have the urban coastal cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The plan is to make New California the fifty-first state in the country and yesterday Robert Preston, Tom Reed, and their supporters took a step in that direction.
Fighting back against the government of California, New California has declared independence from its parent state.
The propounders of New California reportedly want an independent state and are doing all they can do make that dream a reality.
New California is also reportedly supposed to have the power to establish and maintain its own law and order.
This means that the state will have its own police department, Chief justices, fire services and every conceivable amenity that is meant to be provided by the government.
Unlike the Calexit movement, the New California movemwent wants to remain a part of the U.S. but it no longer wants to be governed by the state of California.

The leaders of the movement held a Declaration of Independence on Monday.
The aim is to separate from the state capitol Sacramento by invoking Article 4, Section 3 of the US Constitution.

A representative for the New California movement said,
‘We, therefore, the Representatives of the Counties of New California, appeal to the California Legislature and the Federal Congress to pass resolutions to create the State of New California’.
The group is citing the ‘over taxation, regulation, and mono-party politics’ of California as their justification for seeking independence.
The New California movement claims to have subcommittees in 21 of the state’s 58 counties,
It is also estimated that it will take ’10 to 18 months’ before they are ready to approach the California state legislature to request a formal separation.
Co-founder Tom Reed says that they are working with state legislatures to get this done and are doing everything by the book.
