U.I Student Killed in Factory Accident In Ibadan.

A 300-level student of European Studies of the University of Ibadan (UI), Gbadebo Richard, was crushed to death in a soap making machine at a factory owned by Henkel Nigeria Limited, makers of WAW detergent and bar soap. The incident was said to have occurred on Monday evening at the factory located in the Oluyole axis of Ibadan, Oyo State. Twenty-year-old Richard, who was on night shift, was said to have fallen into one of the machines in the factory. The other workers were not aware until they saw blood coming out through the other side of the machine His family members were not informed by the company until an unknown number called them. So they mobilised to the company and blocked the road, about 30 police officers were called in to prevent disturbance.  According to media reports, "An ambulance later came and Richard’s father was allowed into the building. BREAKING: Schools To Reopen August 4 For Graduating Students.

Ministry of Education has ordered the reopening of secondary schools across the nation from August 4 for graduating classes. A statement released on July 27, Director of Press, Ministry Of Education, Ben Bem Goong, said students will have two weeks to prepare for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) which will start on the August 17. Goong explained that the decision was taken at the virtual consultative meeting of the Federal Ministry of Education, Commissioners of Education in the 36 states, the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Proprietors of Private schools, and Chief Executive of Examination bodies. Federal government had initially suspended the reopening of schools due to the increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Hushpuppi gets another top rated lawyer in California.

Ramon Abbas a.k.a Hushpuppi has gotten another lawyer to represent him in California. Hushpuppi's lawyer, Gal Pissetzky who is only licensed to practice in Chicago will now be supported by Vicki Podberesky of Andrues/Podberesky law firm based in Los Angeles. Mr Abbas, popularly addressed as Hushpuppi, is a Dubai-based Nigerian Instagram celebrity facing wire fraud charges in the United States. The Federal Bureau of Investigation accused him of being part of a network that made “hundreds of millions of dollars” from business email compromise frauds and other scams. The 37-year-old was formerly held in the Metropolitan Correction Centre in Chicago, United States but now, has been transported to Los Angeles by the U.S. Marshals Service, following a court ruling in the Northern District of Illinois.

Kanye West has issued an apology to Kim Kardashian West.

Kanye West has apologized publically to Kim Kardashian after a slew of very public statements about their family.  A week after the rapper's controversial campaign rally and since-deleted Twitter posts in which he banned Kris Jenner from seeing his children and expressed that he's “been trying to get divorced” from his wife, West took to Twitter to ask for forgiveness.  "I would like to apologize to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter," West wrote July 25. "I did not cover her like she has covered me. To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me."

John Lewis, civil rights icon, has died at 80.

John Robert Lewis, the son of sharecroppers who survived a brutal beating by police during a landmark 1965 march in Selma, Alabama, to become a towering figure of the civil rights movement and a longtime US congressman, has died after a six-month battle with cancer. He was 80. "It is with inconsolable grief and enduring sadness that we announce the passing of U.S. Rep. John Lewis," the statement from his family said. "He was honored and respected as the conscience of the U.S. Congress and an icon of American history, but we knew him as a loving father and brother. He was a stalwart champion in the on-going struggle to demand respect for the dignity and worth of every human being. He dedicated his entire life to non-violent activism and was an outspoken advocate in the struggle for equal justice in America. 6-Year-Old Hero Saves His Little Sister's Life by Standing between Her And A Charging Dog.

A 6 year old boy saved his little sister’s life by standing between her and a charging dog.  Bridger saw a wild dog charging towards his younger sister and he stood between the dog and his sister.  The dog then pounced on him and attacked him instead, biting him severally. After getting bitten several times on the face and head, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her to keep her safe.  He later said, “If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.” This young man is a hero and his sister is lucky to have him. Unsurprisingly, the story of Bridger’s selfless act went viral on social media. Many have expressed their interest to help him and his family financially, as reported by 7 News.

Offset Buys Daughter Kulture A Birkin Bag for Her 2nd Birthday.

American rapper, Offset recently celebrated his daughter, Kulture's, second birthday with a very swanky gift -- a bright pink Birkin bag. The proud dad took to Instagram to show Kulture unboxing the expensive gift while wearing a pink fairy costume.  "OK, girl! I see you, beautiful baby," the 28-year-old Migos rapper jokes with his lil'  girl as she holds her new purse.  Kulture herself didn't weigh in on the present, but many people took to the comments section to criticize Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, for not getting Kulture something she might actually want at the age of two. 

Gokada CEO found murdered in his apartment .

Fahim Saleh, the entrepreneur who founded Gokada, has been murdered in his luxury New York City apartment, according to the New York Times. Police detectives in New York disclosed that Mr Saleh’s body was found decapitated and dismembered with an electric saw. His head, limbs, and torso were said to have been found in different parts of the apartment after whoever murdered him tried to clean up the crime scene. The police also revealed that plastic bags were found on the scene of the murder, which they say could have been an effort to “clean up” evidence of the murder. The casualty was identified as 33 years old, Fahim Saleh, tech entrepreneur and Gokada founder who owned the apartment. His body was found by his sister, 3:30 pm New York time after she went to check on him after not hearing from him in 24 hours, calling the police immediately after finding the body. Police also believe his sister’s arrival may have interrupted the evidence clean up, as the electric saw was still plugged

BREAKING: Nigeria loses first, only female combat helicopter pilot, Tolulope Arotile in road accident.

Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, the first-ever and only female combat helicopter pilot in the Nigerian Air Force has died. The tragic incident occurred in Kaduna yesterday after she sustained head injuries from a road accident. Her death came barely a year after she was winged as a combat helicopter pilot in the Air Force following the completion of her course in South Africa. Confirming the accident, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, said until her death, ‪Flying Officer Arotile, who was commissioned into the NAF in September 2017 as a member of Nigerian Defence Academy Regular Course 64, was the first ever female combat helicopter pilot in the service. Nelson Mandela's daughter Zindzi dies at 59.

Zindzi Mandela, the youngest daughter of South Africa's first black president Nelson Mandela and anti-apartheid activist Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, has died at the age of 59. She died in a Johannesburg hospital in the early hours of Monday morning, public broadcaster SABC said. She was an activist in her own right and was serving as ambassador to Denmark at the time of her death. The cause of her death was not immediately revealed. She had been designated to become South Africa's envoy to Liberia after her stint in Copenhagen, which started in 2015. She was born and raised in Soweto and was educated both at home and in neighbouring Swaziland. Zindzi grew up while her father was incarcerated by the apartheid regime for 27 years. Like her parents, she was involved in the liberation struggle and was an active member of the African National Congress (ANC).

Nicole Thea, 24-year-old YouTube star, dies along with unborn child. YouTube star Nicole Thea has died at the age of 24, along with her unborn baby. The London-based influencer's family confirmed the news on Sunday in an Instagram post, stating that Thea's unborn son had also died. To all Nicole's friends and supporters it is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Nicole and her son she and Boga named Reign sadly passed away on Saturday morning," the statement read. The message explained that Thea had pre-scheduled "a few YouTube videos" to upload on her channel before her death, and her boyfriend, Boga, had "made the decision to allow them to be aired." The family asked for privacy, saying "our hearts are truly broken and we are struggling to cope with what has happened." The cause of Thea's death is not yet known. Seven sisters celebrate as their father who repeatedly raped them and fathered a child with one of them is jailed.

A woman who suffered ‘horrific’ abuse at the hands of her father for years has revealed how she feels the family were ‘let down’ by authorities because they were travellers. Helen O’Donoghue, 51, was four years old when her father, James O’Reilly, 75, of Killeens, Ballynonty, Thurles, in County Tipperary, Ireland, started molesting her and she was r3ped by him four years later. She did not know at the time that he was also abusing his younger sister and six other daughters. O’Reilly, who fathered a child with one of his daughters when she was 16, was jailed for 20 years on 15th June after his conviction of 58 counts of r3pe and nine counts of sexual assault in December following a five-week trial. The women were beaten, starved and degraded throughout their childhoods and lived in poverty, despite O’Reilly earning good money as a scrap and horse dealer, Dublin’s Central Criminal Court heard. Man ‘attacked wife with hammer and killed baby after finding out it wasn't his’

A man has been charged with murder after allegedly battering his much younger wife with a hammer and smothering her baby after discovering he was not the father. Dennis Chambers, 60, was arrested in relation to the savage attack on Corena Chambers, 24, and death of her five-month-old baby - who was suffocated with a burping cloth, according to police in Virginia. The Gloucester County Sheriff's Office found the child's body and the severely injured woman at the family home on Wednesday afternoon while undertaking a welfare check, according to a criminal complaint seen by WVEC. The lifeless body of the young baby was also found at the scene.

Batwoman: Javicia Leslie cast as first black actor to play the character on TV.

Batwoman has found a new lead actress, with Javicia Leslie stepping up to wear the cape and cowl on the TV show's second season. Leslie will play Ryan Wilder, a new "likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed" character who will take over from Kate Kane, alias Batwoman. Kane was played by Ruby Rose, who shocked fans by quitting in May. Leslie's casting makes her the first black actress to portray the character in a live action TV show or film. She will be taking over for Ruby Rose who left the show after season one. 'Batwoman' is set to return on the CW for its second season in January.  "I am extremely proud to be the first black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television," said the actress, who previously starred in the US comedy-drama God Friended Me. "And as a bisexual woman, I am honoured to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community."
