COVID19: FG to roll out policy on schools’ reopening, considers sectionalising classes.

The Federal Ministry of Education will soon roll out measures to be put in place for the safe re-opening of the nation’s schools.  The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman, Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, revealed this on Wednesday in Abuja at the 36th joint national briefing of the task force.  He said: “Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the nation was faced with the challenge of out of school children. READ: No date yet for resumption of schools. “This has now been compounded by the compelling need for closure of schools as part of the measures to limit the spread of the virus. “The PTF has been deliberating on this situation and wish to inform Nigerians that the Federal Ministry of Education will roll out measures to be put in place for safe re-opening of our schools.” He assured the nation’s children, their parents and all stakeholders that all hands are on deck to reopen the schools at a safe time. “We, therefore, use this medium

A video circulated on social media on Monday showed a woman in Central Park falsely claiming that an “African-American man” threatened her life. The incident was said to occur between a man and a white woman over the Memorial Day weekend. Cell phone video shared on Twitter revealed a verbal confrontation as the woman was exercising her dog without a leash. After the man asked the woman to put her dog on a leash, he took out his phone to film her. “Please stop,” the woman says. “Sir, I’m asking you to stop recording me.” “Please don’t come close to me,” the man replies. The woman threatens to call the police and adds, “I’m going to tell them there’s an African-American man threatening my life.” “Please tell them whatever you like,” the man says back. Former WWE star Shad Gaspard went missing on Sunday, May 17, while swimming at Venice Beach in Los Angeles with his 10-year-old son. The professional wrestler’s wife, Siliana Gaspard, announced the news on his Instagram Stories on Monday, May 18, writing, “Missing!!! Last seen wearing swim shorts. If you have seen Shad, please message me. Please don’t flood me asking what happened. We want to know if he’s been seen and where. Thank you.” Siliana also shared a missing person flyer that includes Shad’s height, 6-foot-7, and weight, 265 pounds.

CHILD's Play co-screenwriter John Lafia died by suicide on Wednesday at 63 years old. He was found in his Los Angeles home, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, with his family later confirming his death. The writer's family shared in a statement: “It is with great sadness we announce that loving father, film and television writer, director, producer and musician John J. Lafia passed away on Wednesday, April 29.” The entertainment professional was best known in Hollywood for his work on the Child’s Play franchise, with the first film in the series marking the debut of the iconic Chucky character. He co-created the fictional doll with Don Mancini and Tom Holland while they all co-wrote the screenplay for 1988’s Child’s Play. John reportedly came up with the character’s name, as well as the well-known line: “Hi, I’m Chucky, wanna play?” He is survived by his children, Tess and Kane, and his former wife, Beverly.

Rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Little Richard, fondly known to many as the “Georgia Peach,” has died at the age of 87. His passing from cancer was confirmed by his son Danny Penniman, reports The New York Times. “I’m very sorry to hear about Little Richard,” posted Brian Wilson. “He was there at the beginning and showed us all how to rock and roll. The alleged murder video of an African American Georgia man named Ahmaud Arbery just leaked online. The video purports to show the last minute, where the Black man was chased by armed White men in Georgia, then killed. The video appears to show a group of White men in pickup trucks chasing the Black man, carrying rifles. They then jump out and attack the man, and then shoot him down - like they were hunting a wild animal. Ahmaud Arbery, 25, was jogging in a Brunswick neighborhood on February 23 when a man and his son chased him down, telling police later that they thought he looked like the suspect in a series of recent break-ins in the area. Kodak’s death: Autopsy result proves Clarence Peters is innocent.

Nigerian Music video director, Clarence Peters and his crew members have reportedly been released by the police after the autopsy result of late Love Divine also known as Picture Kodak came out. The autopsy result shows that the late video vixen died of electric shock. Clarence Peters and his crew members were released to his father and juju music icon, Sir Shina Peters at the Panti Police station. Kodak died on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 while charging her phone in Clarence’s dance studio. She is believed to have been electrocuted. Professor researching COVID-19 killed in apparent murder-suicide: officials

A University of Pittsburgh professor on the verge of making "very significant findings" researching COVID-19, according to the university, was shot and killed in an apparent murder-suicide over the weekend, police said. The research assistant professor, identified as Bing Liu, was found in his townhouse Saturday with gunshot wounds to the head, neck, torso and extremities, according to the Ross Police Department.

WWE Superstar John Cena surprises 7-year-old battling life-threatening illness in Odessa.

WWE superstar and Tampa Bay resident John Cena has given a local 7-year-old battling a life-threatening illness one of the best early birthday surprises. On Sunday, Cena visited 7-year-old David Castle at his Odessa home. Castle is currently battling Wilms tumor, which is a type of childhood cancer that starts in the kidneys. Tammy Miller, Castle’s mom, said the superstar brought her 7-year-old lots of goodies including two WWE title belts, signed T-shirts, a signed program, signed bobblehead, hat and some of his armbands. Miller said Castle was filled with excitement and had tears of joy when he saw one of his favorite wrestlers. The surprise visit was made possible by officials with Pasco County Fire Rescue. The Lagos State police have arrested music director, #ClarencePeters, over the death of dancer and video vixen, #Kodak. . Bala Elkana, the State’s police spokesperson revealed that the producer is currently being detained and questioned as the police is investigating murder. . According to him: “Peters is in our custody answering some questions. We are investigating the circumstances that led to her death. It is a full fledged investigation. . . It is a murder charge. We are probably looking at murder. We are not concluding at this stage. If she died of electrocution according to reports, it is left for us to find out. Was she actually electrocuted? What went wrong? Autopsy will also show.”

CBN Stops Banks From Retrenching Workers.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has ordered all banks not to retrench any workers A statement from the apex bank signed by Mr. Isaac Okorafor Director, Corporate Communications said the CBN, Bankers’ Committee both decided to suspend lay-offs in banks. Access Bank has been trending in the media after an alleged video of a town hall meeting between the Managing Director of the bank Herbert Wigwe and the staff. In the video, Wigwe was heard informing staff of the bank that some contract staff of the bank will be laid off while other staff will have their salaries cut. Following the backlash that greeted the video, the CBN on Sunday stated that, “in order to help minimize and mitigate the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on families and livelihoods, no bank in Nigeria shall retrench or lay-off any staff of any cadre (including full-time and part-time).” However, CBN did not state whether bank staff that have already been sacked will be recalled.

 Nigerian Afropop singer,  David Adeleke,  aka Davido, has announced plans to release ‘A Better Time’ his new album, in July. The music superstar took to his social media page on Saturday night to make the announcement to his numerous fans. Davido also announced that he would be having a collaboration with Nicki Minaj, Trinidad-born rapper, which would be produced by Speroach Beatz. ‘A Better Time’ comes about five months after Davido had released ‘A Good Time’, his 17-track project, which featured several music heavyweights including Chris Brown, an American R&B singer; Popcaan, a Jamaican dancehall deejay; Peruzzi; Naira Marley among others. The announcement also comes amid the coronavirus pandemic that has continued to ravage several countries across the globe. The documents also include an incident report about the shooting, crime scene analysis papers and statements from the attending police officers. Anyone found without a face mask will be prosecuted – FG

The Federal Government has announced that anyone found moving about without a face mask will be prosecuted. This was disclosed in a document by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 released as part of the guidelines for the implementation of the phased and gradual easing of the lockdown. The five-page document which was signed by the PTF Chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, also noted that anyone found with a temperature above 38ºC will be mandated to return home. Anyone violating the curfew in a non-emergency situation and anyone attending a gathering of more than 20 people will be prosecuted.
