Gunmen storm into stock exchange in Pakistan’s Karachi, six dead.

Four gunmen stormed into Pakistan’s largest and oldest stock exchange in the southern port city of Karachi on Monday morning killing at least two people, according to local media reports. The four attackers have also been eliminated, the Karachi police said. The attackers drove to the barricaded entrance of the stock exchange in a silver Corolla car a little before 10 am, got off and hurled a grenade at security personnel before opening fire from automatic firearms. Police officer Rizwan Ahmed said the gunmen opened fire at the entrance and entered the stock exchange grounds. The complex was soon surrounded by heavily armed special forces, according to news agency AP. The Pakistan State Bank is located in the premise as well as the headquarters of several national and international financial institutions.

Burna Boy becomes the first Artiste to win the BET Best International Act award for two years in a row.

Afrobeat/Afropop superstar Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy has won the 2020 BET Award for Best International Act. The 2020 BET Awards was held virtually at L.A. Live, Los Angeles, U.S. in the early hours of Monday. American comedian, Amanda Seales, hosted the awards. It was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was simulcasted via CBS. 16-year-old TikTok star Siya Kakkar commits suicide in Delhi, India

TikTok artist and dancer, #SiyaKakkar has left her fans devastated after committing suicide at the age of just 16. The fast-growing Indian star killed herself today at her residence in Preet Vihar, New Delhi. FG submits school reopening proposal to National Assembly.

The Federal Ministry of Education has presented to the National Assembly a detailed proposal on its plan to reopen schools across the country. The Minister of State for Education, Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, stated this on Tuesday when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education. He was in the upper chamber to brief the federal lawmakers about his ministry’s plans for pupils who had been forced to stay at home following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nwajiuba refused to give details of the proposal, saying some people would misconstrue it as the ministry’s guidelines for schools reopening. He said, “Children are asymptomatic carriers. Nobody can prove whether they can infect each others. Not even the health experts. Everything we know about it is what we read. N-Power, Federal Government youth’s empowerment programme, on Monday, disclosed that its registration portal would be opened this week. The scheme disclosed that 400, 000 beneficiaries would be selected upon registration. N-Power made the disclosure via a tweet on its official Twitter handle. “This week, the N-Power portal will re-open for registration. 400,000 beneficiaries will be taken from the application pool,” it said. 22-year-old Female Ekiti University Student Dies In Boyfriend's Apartment In Osun.

A 300 level female undergraduate of the Federal University of Oye Ekiti in Ekiti State, identified as Faderera Oloyede, has died in an apartment which is said to belong to her boyfriend, Ayo Maliki, in Osun State. The deceased was found on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, inside the room in the Koko area of Iree in Osun State. The Mathematics Education student was said to have gone to her boyfriend’s place in the company of her friend identified as Kemisola Adewusi, a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. According to sources, Maliki had prepared rice for his visitors and while eating the food, Oloyede suddenly developed stomach ache and started vomiting. However, she died after efforts to save her life ended in futility. “They tried to save her life but she died after complaining of stomach ache,” one source said. Dan Foster, a popular broadcaster, and host of The Morning Show on Classic FM, Lagos, is dead. Foster was said to have been ill. He worked with numerous radio stations including Cathy Hughes Radio One, Mix 106.5 both in America, and Virgin Island-based WTBN before moving to Nigeria in 2000 where he joined Cool FM, quickly becoming popular with Nigerian listeners. In September 2009, Foster left Cool FM for Inspiration FM but left in 2014 to join City FM. In May 2016, he left City FM 105.1 for Classic FM 97.3 radio station where he worked before he passed on.

Black Lives Matter activist Oluwatoyin Salau found dead in Florida.

A 19-year-old Black Lives Matter activist whose disappearance this month led to a desperate search after she sent a series of tweets describing a sexual assault has been found dead in Tallahassee, Fla., the police said Monday. The activist, Oluwatoyin Salau, was one of two women whose bodies were discovered in an area southeast of the city on Saturday evening, the police said. Both the deaths were being investigated as homicides, the police said, and a suspect, Aaron Glee Jr., 49, was in custody.

A  trending video on social media captures the moment a Nigerian lady, Vick cried out about the challenges she has been facing ever since she had a breast augmentation. Ibidun Ighodalo, ex-Nigerian beauty queen and wife of Pastor Ituah Ighodalo of The Trinity Church, has died. She reportedly died of cardiac arrest Sunday morning after suffering from an undisclosed ailment. The late Mrs. Ighodalo was Founder/CEO of Elizabeth P, Nigeria’s top events planning company and Ibidunni Ighodalo Foundation, a non-profit organisation created to raise awareness on issues of infertility in couples. Ibidun, 40, is survived by her husband and twins. Ibidun shot into limelight after winning a beauty contest known as FACE OF LUX, organised by Unilever Nigeria. Alexander, brother of a former Big Brother Naija housemate, Khafi Kareem was gunned down close to his family home in Shepherd’s Bush, West London. Mother forced to live with her intestines hanging out after horrific nightclub shooting.

Takieyah Reaves was 29 when she was shot in the stomach in a random attack outside a nightclub in Newark, New Jersey. Takieyah, 32, was struck in her stomach and right leg during the July 2017 shooting. Covid-19 kills 17 Nigerians in 24 hours, total cases now 13,873!

New 409 cases of Covid-19 were announced Wednesday night by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, with 17 people also dying in the last 24 hours. The death toll increased from 365 to 382 overnight, while 145 patients were discharged. The new national total of confirmed cases is now 13,873, with Lagos still carrying the biggest case burden. Lagos recorded 210 cases, followed by the FCT Abuja with 85 cases and Delta with 22. Edo State has 16 new cases, Nasarawa 14, Borno 14. Kaduna, which lifted its lockdown on Tuesday recorded 14 new cases and Bauchi 10. Texas Southern University offers George Floyd's 6-year-old daughter a full scholarship.

On the day George Floyd was laid to rest, Texas Southern University announced it would give a full scholarship to the 6-year-old whose father's death in custody has spurred global demands for an end to police brutality. TSU's Board of Regents, with its foundation board, "has approved a fund to provide a full scholarship for Floyd's beloved daughter, Gianna," the university announced in a social media post. "TSU's executive and academic staff will prepare a place for Miss Floyd if she wishes to attend the University." The scholarship is privately funded, the university said, but did not disclose who is paying for it. Gianna made headlines last week when she proclaimed “Daddy changed the world” in a video posted on social media by Stephen Jackson, a former NBA player and friend of Floyd’s.
