Singing icon Christina Aguilera is set to head out on her first tour in a decade, the reason why it’s been so long is because she’s had other commitments for the past 10 years.
From 2011 to 2016 she was a vocal coach on hit NBC talent show ‘The Voice,’ however she suddenly left the show without really explaining why.
However it seems that now she’s ready to talk about what exactly led her to leave a project that she committed to for over five years now.
In a recent interview Aguilera says that she became disillusioned with the whole thing really early into her time on the show.
“It became something that I didn’t feel was what I had signed up for in season 1.”
The reason for this is Aguilera says is that she was in it for the music, but in her mind that’s not what the show became.
“You realize it’s not about music. It’s about making good TV moments and massaging a story,” she said.
She says that she was censored in a lot of the things she wanted to do on the show.
“I didn’t get into this business to be a television show host and to be given all these rules.”
The show even went so far as to tell her how to dress apparently,
“Especially as a female: You can’t wear this, can’t say that. I would find myself on that show desperately trying to express myself through clothing or makeup or hair.
“It was my only kind of outlet,” she says.
We're all happy that Aguilera decided to do what she feels is best for her at the end of the day.
