Ekiti To Empower 2,000 At Entrepreneurship Show.

Ekiti State Government has said it will empower a total of 2,000 unemployed persons with marketable vocational and start-up capitals aimed at tackling unemployment.

The Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief David Olusoga, said this at a press conference to herald the maiden Ekiti State Entrepreneurship Week scheduled to hold between October 10th and 13th.

Olusoga said the initiative was targeted at lifting people from unemployment pool and reducing poverty to its barest minimum with a view to enthroning self-sufficiency and self-reliance.

The commissioner lamented high rate unemployment in the state, saying the ugly trend had compelled Governor Kayode Fayemi to explore other areas of human capacity since white-collar jobs could not be provided to all and sundry.

According to him, 2,000 out of the 5,000 participants expected will be trained in various skills capable of making them self-reliant and then empowered to enable them to function without hitches.

The Commissioner for Information, Chief Muyiwa Olumilua, and the Managing Director of Ekiti Fountain Holdings Limited, Oscar Seyi-Ayeleso, said the initiative was purposefully designed to banish poverty through creation of job opportunities.

Olusoga said the entrepreneurship programme of the state was patterned after the Annual Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), which is an annual international programme that had consistently introduced entrepreneurship to young people across the globe.
