The 19-year-old reggae sensation born Mickayla Simpson became the youngest and the only woman to be awarded and nominated for a Grammy in her category sending thrills and goosebumps throughout the Caribbean culture and entertainment industry.
In her acceptance speech she “thanked all the producers and everyone who helped to make Rappture what it is today.” She paid her respects to Julian Marley, Sly & Robbie & Roots Radics, Steel Pulse and Morgan Heritage “for all the input them have made in the reggae industry” and she ended her speech with “This one is for Reggae. This one is for Jamaica.”
