Danish Aid Worker, Anja Lovén Marks 4 Years Since The Rescue Of Child Branded A Witch In Akwa Ibom.


On Thursday, January 30, 2020, Anja posted new photos of Hope to mark the anniversary.

She described Hope as a “very strong, intelligent, funny and beautiful young boy who despite all odds, survived” and despite his young age, knows that hate is too great a burden to bear.

In February 2016, "This is Africa" shared the gut wrenching picture, and story of a toddler who was abandoned, and called a witch by his community in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, in Nigeria. The toddler was rescued by Anja Ringgren Lovén, a Danish humanitarian worker, and David Emmanuel Umem who run the African Children's Aid Education and Development Foundation, a charity organisation dedicated to helping abandoned children.

The toddler, later named Hope, was found in a delicate state, owing to the inhumane conditions he was living in.

A year after his rescue Hope made such a remarkable recovery, and started attending school, news which went viral on social media, and it was celebrated by many people across the continent.

Iran's keeper Zohreh Koudaei accused of being a man.

  Iranian women's football team goalkeeper, Zohreh Koudaei, has been accused of being a man by the Jordan Football Association after she saved two penalties for a crucial win against Jordan.  As a result of these saves in a penalty shoot out which ended 4-2, Iran earned a place at the Women’s Asian Cup for the first time in the country’s history. The cup will take place in India in 2022.  Jordan FA is now asking for a gender verification check. Lol. Jordan FA President Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein took to Twitter to share a letter to the Asian Football Confederation calling for an official investigation into the sex of Koudaei.
