The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will on Friday arraign the controversial official of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Philomina Chieshe who claimed that the missing N36 million JAMB proceeds in her custody was swallowed by a snake in Makurdi, Benue State. Chieshe will be arraigned alongside five others, namely: Samuel Umoru, Yakubu Jekada, Daniel Agbo, Priscilla Ogunsola, and Aliyu Yakubu before Justice Peter Afen of a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Abuja. Chieshe became notorious when she made an outlandish claim that a mysterious snake swallowed about N36 million cash arising from sale of e-JAMB cards in the state. The controversial JAMB official is being prosecuted by the EFCC on an eight-count charge, following her refusal to furnish the management of JAMB the true information on the financial status of JAMB e-cards supplied to the Benue Zonal office between 2014 and 2016. Abubakar Bello, governor of Niger State has dissolved the State Executive Council and directed all commissioners to hand over the affairs of their ministries to their permanent secretaries. Sixteen pupils waiting for their school bus and two parents of pupils who were nearby were stabbed by a man wielding knives in Kawasaki near Tokyo on Tuesday morning, leaving a girl and a man dead, police and school officials said. The 16 schoolgirls, pupils of Caritas elementary school, a private Catholic school in the city, were attacked by the suspect in his 50s, who was holding knives in both hands. Chartered accountant Adewura Bello, 26, who was declared missing two weeks ago, has been found dead. Bello had gone missing on May 15 while on her way home from work. She was said to have been on a motorcycle inside Gowon Estate and might have been carried away by flood occasioned by heavy downpour that evening. In the course of her search, residents of the area had posted on social media that a woman about her size and age was washed away by flood through a manhole shortly after the motorcyclist carrying her was advised not to proceed. A white Oxford, Mississippi police officer was arrested and charged with murdering his Black girlfriend. The murder case has attracted national attention. Dominique Clayton, a 32-year-old mother of four, was found murdered in her bed inside her Oxford home on Sunday. Her body was found by her children, according to News One. A private security guard employed by the management of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), Ikorodu, Cletus Wilson, on Friday, allegedly murdered one of his colleagues, John Okoro. The management of the polytechnic and the police have confirmed the development. Six persons were on Wednesday feared dead in a building collapse at No. 7 Ezenwa Street Onitsha, Anambra state. Eight persons were said to be under the structure when the four-storey building under construction, came crumbling around 1.45pm. Eyewitnesses said those trapped were six labourers, including the site Engineer. Meanwhile, one of the trapped persons was making calls inside the debris, an indication that some of them might still be alive. Confirming the incident, the Chairman, Red Cross Society in Anambra State, Prof. Peter Katchy said the rescued casualties have been rushed to the hospital for medical attention. The trial of Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, for alleged credit card fraud will begin at a Lagos high court today. He will be arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which has slammed an 11-count charge against him. News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the musician effectively risks seven years in jail if found guilty in accordance with Section 33 (2) of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act, 2015. The charge with suit number FHC/L/178C/19 was filed before a Lagos State High Court last Wednesday. Some of the credit cards, according to the EFCC, bore the names- Nicole Louise Malyon, and Timea Fedorne Tatar. The alleged crimes were in contravention of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act and the Cyber Crimes Act. The Federal Government has condemned in the strongest term, the attacks on the UN Peace Keepers by unidentified assailants that led to the death of a Nigerian UN peacekeeper in Timbuktu, northern Mali. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this in a statement by its Acting Spokesperson, Friday Akpan, on Sunday in Abuja The UN Secretary General, Mr Antonio Gettress, had said the attacks, which occurred in separate incidents in Tessalit and Timbuktu, left four other UN peacekeepers, including another Nigerian injured. Peacekeepers were deployed to Mali after Islamist militants seized the north of the country in 2012.
