Matthew Deremer, 31, of Seminole, Florida, spent the morning of New Year's Eve reflecting on past obstacles and voicing a strong desire to redefine himself in a Facebook post.
Hours later, an alleged drunk driver failed to yield at an intersection and struck Deremer, who was riding home on his 2007 Suzuki motorcycle. Steven Lee Clarke, 59, was subsequently charged with DUI manslaughter, and has since been released on bond.
Facebook users have expressed chills over the timeline of events, especially in Deremer's last line, "And I really don't know where I'll end up tonight but I do know where I windup is where I'm meant to be."
The post has now gone viral. Thousands of people everywhere -- strangers included -- are helping the Iraq War veteran spread his energetic smile and positivity posthumously.
In addition to serving as a Marine, Deremer also lived in California, traveled to Japan, worked as a physical trainer, and had recently transitioned into surgical technology. He was a proud and active member of a Christian motorcyclist group.
"I serve God. I ride hard. I work hard. Family & friends are everything. God is center the of my life," Matthew Deremer wrote in his Bio section on Facebook.
Last day of 2015!!!! For me I'll be meditating through all I do, on this entire year. I've lost, I've gained, family is closer and tougher than ever before, loved ones lost, and new friends found.
There has been many times where I've been found on my knees in prayer for hours (relentless) and other times leading a group of people in prayer, my faith (that I love to share) is an everyday awakening (to me) that people, lives, and circumstances can change for the better OVER TIME.
I look back at 2015's huge challenges that I've overcome, shared with others, and have once again found myself... To say thank you and BRING ON 2016, much works to be done!
And I really don't know where I'll end up tonight but I do know where I windup is where I'm meant to be
Twitter users have decided that Barack Obama should grow a beard, as a fake picture of him goes viral. The Shade Room has shared snaps of bearded celebrities, including rapper Jay Z and ‘hot felon’-turned-model Jeremy Meeks. But it was the former president, 56, who wowed the internet most of all with his photoshopped salt and pepper hair growth. Wow... Looking good, Mr President ☺
