It was never a secret, but the fact that the name on Jamie Foxx's birth certificate is not Jamie Foxx confused and shocked a lot of people online. It all started with a tweet from a random user and turned into a hilarious trending topic. According to Biography.com, Eric Marlon Bishop began using the stage name Jamie Foxx when as a young stand-up comedian he noticed that club handlers were calling women to the stage to perform before the men. He chose the name Jamie because it sounded like a girl's name, and Foxx as a tribute to his idol, comedian Redd Foxx.
