Israel announced Thursday it was barring the entry of two Democratic US congresswomen after Donald Trump encouraged the move, a remarkable step both by the US President and his ally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to punish political opponents. Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely told CNN on Thursday of Israel's decision to ban Reps. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota from entering the country. The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a woman who locked up a child in a dog's cage in Lagos. Video of a woman beating a boy, and thereafter locking him up in a cage with a dog had gone viral a couple of weeks ago. The video generated comments on issues of child abuse and maltreatment. The Lagos police command said it had arrested the woman, Onyinye Mbadike. In a statement on Thursday by its spokesman, Bala Elkana, the police said Mbadike, 24, was arrested at No 7 Trimnell Street, Aguda, Lagos. The police said: "This followed a viral video on the social media showing the suspect torturing one Chibike EziAmaka ‘m’ 10years old of same address. The video also showed the suspect locking the boy up in a dog’s kennel, sharing space with dogs.  "The video was widely condemned by well meaning Nigerians. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde will on Thursday swear in 14 commissioners to serve in his cabinet. Makinde made the disclosure while receiving stakeholders of the Ibadan based state-owned football club, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), in his Agodi, Secretariat Office, Ibadan. The commissioners-designate who had earlier been screened and confirmed by the House of Assembly during a session that lasted about eight hours last week, will take their oath of office and allegiance at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s office, Agodi, Ibadan by 10 am. The 14 commissioners comprise representatives and members of parties from the coalition that teamed up with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to secure victory from the then ruling All Progressive Congress during the last governorship election. A postmortem examination will be carried out to determine the cause of death of Nora Quoirin, 15, whose body has been found in the Malaysian jungle. The London girl’s body was discovered on Tuesday by a local team of hikers just over a mile from the resort where she had been on holiday with her family. The find brought to an end a 10-day search which had involved more than 350 volunteers and drawn offers of support from around the world. “The family confirmed that the body found is indeed missing Nora Anne,” the police chief for Negeri Sembilan state, Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusof, said. “Both parents, the mother and father, both confirmed it.” He said the postmortem would be carried out at 10am on Wednesday and that the police would then determine whether any further investigations were needed.
