Many persons are feared dead while scores more are left terribly injured following an accident of a diesel truck that lost control and rammed into a commercial area in Oloko Street, Ikare Akoko, Ondo State. According to eyewitnesses report , the accident occurred around 4:30pm on Saturday. And that the truck driver lost control and rammed into shops within the area. Another witness said the injured victims have been taken to the state’s Specialist Hospital in the town and Federal Medical Centre, Owo.

Chadwick Boseman died Friday at the age of 43, according to the Associated Press. The actor, who starred in Marvel's Black Panther and Netflix's Da 5 Bloods, was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2016. His publicist Nicki Fioravante informed AP that he died in his Los Angeles home alongside his wife and family. Boseman had never spoken publicly about his battle with cancer. A 19-year-old woman and her 18-year-old boyfriend are set to be charged over her death in early April in a flat in l’Alcúdia de Crespins, some 50 kilometres inland from the Costa Blanca resort of Gandia. The woman’s mother, named as Anna.T, was a Bulgarian national who lived in the area for 20 years. She suffered stab wounds and was then dumped in the bathroom. Her daughter continued to lived in the flat as if nothing had happened and told neighbours that her mother had gone on a trip. Residents said there was a vile stench wafting around parts of the apartment block, but did not suspect that the foul odour was oozing out of a decomposing body. The medical examiner could not determine the exact time the woman died due to the mummified condition of the corpse.

A missing Texas mother of two was found dead in Mexico last week. All of her teeth had been removed, leading authorities to believe she may have been tortured. Lizbeth Flores, 23, left her home in Brownsville, Texas, on August 9 to visit her boyfriend in the Mexican border city of Matamoros, her mother, María Rubio, told Telemundo 40 McAllen. She crossed the U.S.-Mexico border through the Brownsville Veterans Port of Entry, according to the station. When Flores didn't return home, her mother reported her missing to the Brownsville Police Department the next day. Mexican authorities found Flores’ body within the Matamoros city limits on August 11. Her body showed signs that she had been tortured, as it was covered in bruises and her teeth and part of her scalp appeared to have been forcefully removed, KRGV reported. She appeared to have died from blunt force trauma to the head, consistent with a large rock found at the scene, authorities in the Mexican State of Tamaulipas told KRGV.

The Oyo State Police Command has announced the escape of a suspected serial killer, Sunday Shodipe, connection with ritual killings of people at the Akinyele area of Ibadan, Oyo State. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, made this known on Sunday in a statement by Public Relations Officer of the command, Olugbenga Fadeyi. The statement reads, "The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP. Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, wishes to state that the prime suspect in the serial killings at Akinyele Local Government Area, Moniya Ibadan, one Sunday Shodipe ‘m’ 19 years, who was arrested and paraded along with two others on 17th July, 2020 and later charged to court but remanded in police custody escaped from lawful custody on 11/08/2020. "Consequent upon this, the CP wishes to implore the general public to be on the lookout, arrest and immediately inform the officers and men of the command when sighted for immediate handing over for further action." Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley, has been taken to the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja. The police filed charges against him for violating COVID-19 directives banning interstate travels put in place to curb the spread of coronavirus. Naira Marley flew in a chartered plane meant for a Lagos Judge to the Federal Capital Territory for a concert on Saturday, July 13. The concert at the Jabi Lake Mall elicited public outcries with many who attended breaking protocols at the peak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Sexual assault survivor and activist was co-subject of award-winning film. Netflix star Daisy Coleman has died by suicide, aged 23. Documentary subject Coleman appeared in 2016 film Audrie & Daisy. Her body was found after her mother, Melinda, urged police to undertake a welfare check. Taking to Facebook on Wednesday, Coleman’s mother, Melinda, said, “She was my best friend and amazing daughter. “I think she had to make make it seem like I could live without her. I can’t. I wish I could have taken the pain from her!” Audrie & Daisy catalogued Coleman’s experiences of trauma, bullying, and ostracisation, after her alleged rape at a Missouri house party in 2012.

Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday took extraordinary action against President Trump for spreading coronavirus misinformation after his official and campaign accounts broke their rules, respectively. Facebook removed from Trump’s official account the post of a video clip from a Fox News interview in which he said children are “almost immune” from covid-19. Twitter required his Team Trump campaign account to delete a tweet with the same video, blocking it from tweeting in the interim.

ShopRite, a popular grocery retailer has disclosed plans to leave Nigeria after 15 years of operation due to decline in sales. According to a trading update filed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange on Monday, the company said it had been approached for a potential buy over by some Nigerian investors.
