An Uber driver has alleged he was the one who picked up Italian being treated for coronavirus in Lagos from the airport. He cried out on twitter while replying a tweet that says the Government was on a lookout for those that had contact with the patient. He gave his name as Olugbenga Bodunrin and revealed his number as 08136464040 .

The Federal Ministry of Health has confirmed the first case of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nigeria. Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, confirmed the case in a statement issued in the early hours of today, February 28, 2020. According to the statement, the case involves an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and just returned from Milan, Italy on the 25th of February 2020. He was confirmed to be positive by the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, part of the Laboratory Network of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The ministry, however, noted that the patient is clinically stable, with no serious symptoms, and is being managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.

Nigerian singer Iyanya, has been granted bail of N20 million over alleged car theft by an Igbosere High Court in Lagos. Justice Mobolanle Okikiolu-Ighile,has directed Iyanya Mbuk to produce a surety in the like sum, who should also have landed property in Lagos with a Certificate of Occupancy. The judge had warned the "Kukere" crooner that the bail shall be revoked if not perfected within seven days. He said: “I have perused the affidavit and the counter-affidavit of the parties; there is a prima facie case of criminal conversion against him. “However, there is nothing to show that the defendant will interfere with the proceedings of this case and nothing to show that he will jump bail if granted bail. “Bail is therefore granted to the defendant in the sum of N20 million with one surety in the like sum.” Justice Ighile however adjourned the case till May 27 and 28 for trial.

The Mexican government delivered to Nigeria on Tuesday an ancient bronze sculpture seized by customs agents at Mexico City airport as its buyer tried to bring it into this country. The sculpture, from the 6th century southwestern Yoruba city of Ile-Ife, shows a man wearing woven pants and a hat, sitting with his legs crossed and holding an instrument. “Specialists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History determined that it was a piece of Yoruba origin,” Diego Prieto, head of the agency, told a press conference. It was also determined that it had been illegally exported,” the Mexican foreign ministry said. According to the Government of Mexico official website, the customs authorities of the International Airport of Mexico City detected it when its buyer tried to introduce it to the country.

A 100 Level student of the Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH has drowned just a few hours after his matriculation ceremony. The boy, identified as Barnabas Otu,  drowned in a swimming pool in Calabar hours after matriculation. It was gathered that the student who just gained admission into the Department of Urban and Regional planning, faculty of Environmental Sciences did his Matriculation on Monday, February 24, 2020. According to a source, who spoke under anonymity, the incident occurred at Orange Resort, Akai Efa in Calabar Municipality local government area on the same day of the CRUTECH Matriculation. Nikki Cross has seemingly been removed from tonight's A Moment of Bliss segment on SmackDown, which is set to play host to Nikki and Brie Bella's #WWE returns. While the original advertisement featured Cross alongside partner #AlexaBliss as well as the #BellaTwins, the new one shows no sign of her, and there's no mention of the Scot in the copy either. There's currently no word on why Cross was pulled from the segment or if she'll feature on #SmackDown in another capacity.
