US crime writer Sue Grafton, best known for creating the private eye Kinsey Millhone in her 'alphabet mystery' novels, has died aged 77. Her daughter Jamie Clark said she died in Santa Barbara, California, following a two-year battle with cancer. "She was surrounded by family, including her devoted and adoring husband Steve," she said. Grafton worked as a television screenwriter before finding widespread success as a crime novelist. Her series of murder mystery novels, each beginning with a different letter of the alphabet, have been translated into 26 languages and regularly topped best-seller lists in the US. The first, A is for Alibi, was published in 1982 and the last, Y is for Yesterday, was published in August. Nigerian President, President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to the Niger Delta Development Commission (Establishment) Amendment Act, 2017. The Act includes the gas producing and gas processing companies in the list of agencies that are contributing to the Niger Delta Development Commission in addition to the oil companies in a bid to increase funding of the commission for effective discharge of its duties. Previously, the NDDC Act excluded the gas companies. The Act makes it explicit that the gas companies have to be included. This is to diversify the sources of funding for the NDDC for the economic wellbeing of the region. The Federal Capital Appropriation Act also assented to, authorises the Federal Capital Territory Administration to legally and legitimately provide funds out of its Statutory Revenue Fund for recurrent and capital expenditure. Rihanna's Cousin,Tavon was shot dead while walking through a track around his house in St Michael, Barbados. Rihanna wrote on Instagram, “ RIP cousin. Can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! “Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man!” Tavon who had celebrated the Christmas with Rihanna was shot multiple times by a gunman and didn’t make it even though he was rushed to hospital.

Solange Knowles revealed Wednesday that she’s been struggling with an autonomic disorder. So, she has to pull out of an upcoming New Year’s Eve performance. “ The past five months I have been quietly treating, and working through an Autonomic Disorder. It been a journey that hasn’t been easy on me…, ” she wrote on Instagram. The artiste did not share what type of autonomic disorder she was diagnosed with, but the term refers to a breakdown of the autonomic nervous system, which controls involuntary bodily functions. “ Sometimes I feel cool, and other times not so cool at all. World Wrestling Championships silver medallist, Odunayo Adekuoroye, has joined Mumbai Maharathi from NCR Punjab Royals ahead of the 2018 Indian Pro Wrestling League season, which begins on January 9, 2018. The 2014 Commonwealth Games champion, who is competing in the women’s 57kg weight category, was signed for Rs 35 lakh from Punjab Royals. Adekuoroye represented Mumbai Garuda in the 2016 edition, when she won the league title with them, and finished second with Punjab Royals in the 2017 season. She won the best wrestler in the league on the two occasions. A tweet by the league organisers on Sunday announced Adekuoroye’s movement. Three people have been confirmed dead in the violence that occurred in Bwari town of Bwari Area Council, Abuja. A dusk to dawn curfew has, consequently, been imposed on the area. The violence occurred in the area on Monday morning leading to burning down of the major market in the community. According to a resident of the area, the violence started late Sunday night after a Hausa man killed a man said to be of Gbagi ethnicity. In revenge, the Gbagis residing in the area burnt down the Bwari market on Monday, the resident said. Most of the traders in the market are believed to be Hausas. Another witness, who identified herself as Bimbo, said there has been tension between Hausas and Gbagis in the area for a while. “But the cause of this fight is because a Gbagi man was killed last night. There is a 'Situation' going on in Bwari, a town in the Nigerian capital, Abuja. Seems it's violent and out of control. Details of the cause of the violence is not immediately clear, but it led to the burning of the main market in the town. Armed soldiers and police officers were seen trying to maintain peace in the area. Bwari is one of the Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory. It is home to the headquarters of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the Nigerian Law School... I'll  definitely bring you up to speed as the  'situation' unfolds.

Serena Williams’ three-month-old daughter Alexis Olympia celebrated her first holiday season by watching some of her mom’s greatest hits on the court. The tennis Diva shared some adorable videos on Snapchats of her and her daughter watching old tennis videos together. Williams, 36, also shared a picture of her and Alexis Olympia on Instagram with a special Christmas filter that added poinsettia garlands to their hair.  The new mom is planning her return to professional tennis. On 4 November 2016, Runtown released the love-themed ballad "Mad Over You", which charted at number 38 on the Billboard Twitter Top Tracks chart. The Enugu State-born artiste said he got calls to perform all around the world after the release of the hit song. He said: “ Even while recording the song, I knew it would be a very big song. But to be honest, I never thought that it would be as big as it eventually became.” “Immediately after the song dropped, everything changed. Everybody seemed to like the song, and it was played everywhere. ”I started getting calls from all around the world to perform the song and people were very emotional about it. All the songs I released after Mad Over You have also done very well, and the future looks even brighter.”

Actress Heather Menzies Urich has died of brain cancer. She was 68 years old. Menzies Urich played Louisa von Trapp in the classic 1965 movie, 'Sound Of Music' alongside six other "von Trapp children."( Hey, if you haven't seen the movie, go get it ☺  you're gonna love it). She was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme about a month ago, and her health declined rapidly, her son Ryan Urich said. He said his mother died Sunday, surrounded by loved ones at a family home in Canada. The songs Menzies-Urich performed in the film include So Long Farewell and the Lonely Goatherd. After her debut in The Sound of Music she appeared in many television films and programmes, including the TV series of Logan’s Run, TJ Hooker and The Bob Newhart Show. She married actor Robert Urich in 1975 and the couple had three children. He died in 2002. Rest In Peace.

Popular Nigerian musician, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde, has paid tribute to his daughter, Wasilat Olaronke Ashabi Ayinde, who passed on in Canada on Tuesday. Wasilat was said to have died after an undisclosed illness. Many people have since been expressing condolences to the musician otherwise called K1 de Ultimate over the incident. Ayinde, however, broke his silence on Thursday in a tribute he wrote to the daughter, describing her as a gift from God. The musician wrote, “My Olaronke Ashabi: 17th, July, 1983 to 12th, December 2017.These are two dates in  history that shall never be forgotten ever in my life. The first, a date you came to this world,  and the latter, the day you departed. A Southern Vietnam court has sentenced a Nigerian  to 18 years in prison over a fake customs enforcement scam,  state media reported on Friday. A local media reported that Michael Ikechukwu Leonard, 45, was convicted on Thursday of “deceiving others to steal their assets” in a scam which targeted wealthy Vietnamese women. The court in Can Tho city determined that Leonard gained his victims’ trust on messaging apps using various alter egos, including a US army officer. The convict was said to have promised  to send  his victims  valuable presents,  including laptops and jewellery from the US. Local accomplices,  Huynh Ha Binh, Huynh Ha Uyen and Nguyen Tran Quynh Nhi,  would then contact the women claiming to be customs agents and demand fees or fines for the non-existent shipments. They successfully conned a woman in Can Tho out of  28,500 dollars, leading to their arrest. It is unclear how many women were duped by the gang in total. Leonard’s accomplices receive

A  driving instructor, Festus Udoh, has narrated how he lured a 23-year-old National Youth Service Corps member, Miss Modupe Kawose, into a bush at Mawuko, in the Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State. He said he raped and strangled her in the bush. Kawose had registered in a driving school, Lizzy Driving School, while the suspect worked with the outfit. The suspect was paraded at the scene of the crime on Thursday by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Iliyasu Ahmed. Udoh said the victim called her on Saturday, demanding her learner’s permit, and he told her to join him at Lafenwa in Abeokuta. The suspect said when the victim arrived, he told her that he had resigned from Lizzy Driving School, and that she should follow him to the place where the learner’s permit would be processed. He said, “We boarded a vehicle and later took a motorcycle to Iberokodo. We alighted at a junction near the bush. “She was surprised and she asked, ‘is this where you live?’

A black beauty blogger who enhanced her looks using cosmetics has been told to kill herself after being accused of lying about her looks. Victoria Katei who has 50,000 followers on Instagram, reposted two beautiful selfies of herself that showed her with make up and without. The 19-year-old shared the images on her own Instagram page after a troll posted it to shame her. Katei, who is also a chemistry student and lives in Houston, Texas, decided to address the trolls head on. ‘Accounts have been posting pictures of me with make-up versus no make-up telling me I’m a catfish and that I’m hideous.’ ‘People in the comments telling me to kill myself because I’m lying about my looks. Telling me that no one will love me because I’m so ugly and have to cover my “real face ,”‘ Katei said. A Nigerian Actress,  April Joju Muse,  was  brutalized by a Police officer on her way to work some coupla hours ago  . According to the actress who shared the video of what happened between herself and the police officer, she was unexpectedly hit by a vehicle which  belonged to the Police. This prompted her to scream at the top of her voice against the policeman, when he destroyed her passenger window, and threw teargas in her car.. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson announced his girlfriend Lauren Hashian is pregnant with their second child in a recent Instagram post : The post, which includes a picture of their one-year-old daughter Jasmine, noted the couple is expecting a girl. Johnson also has a 16-year-old daughter from his previous marriage. The Rock definitely  has a lot in his plate right now.....  lol. The former WWE star has made sporadic appearances on wrestling shows over the last few years, although he is now best known for his acting career. In addition to a starring role on the HBO show Ballers, he had three blockbuster movies in 2017: The Fate of the Furious, Baywatch and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The mother of Keaton Jones, the Tennessee boy whose heart-breaking anti-bullying message went viral over the weekend, is in the 'Hot Seat' after Internet sleuths have stumbled upon her Facebook page featuring photos of the Confederate flag along with some snide messages. Early Monday morning, African-American activist Tariq Nasheed tweeted a screenshot of Kimberly Jones' now-defunct Facebook page, showing photos of family members waving the Confederate flag. He also shared a status update from late August, in which Mrs Jones wrote: 'Dear butt hurt Americans, If you aren't bleeding, no bones are sticking out & you can breathe, STOP crying! For the love, some folks clearly never picked a switch. And before y'all start talking to me about metaphorical, emotional, financial or historical blood & brokenness, Don't. Join a group.' Keaton Jones, a boy from Knoxville, TN, broke America's collective heart after his mother posted a video of him tragically describing his bullies from school. The mother and son's conversation went viral and it didn't take long for their cause to galvanize support. By the end of the day on Saturday, the video was seen by more than 10 million people and prompted an amazing response for the young boy. Keaton is a student at Union County middle school in eastern Tennessee, and on Friday his mother got a call to pick him up from school because he was too afraid to go to lunch due to the intense bullying he faced, . When Keaton got in the car, he asked his mother to film a video about the abuse he suffered and a plea for the bullying to stop. In the video, the sobbing boy explained that other students called him ugly, told him he had no friends, and dumped milk and ham on him in the lunch room.  According to media reports, A Missouri man is accused of killing his girlfriend’s daughter because the toddler didn’t put on her pajamas. Carl’s Junction Police records show 22-year-old Jalen Vaden threw 3-year-old Jayda Kyle to the floor, causing her to hit her head. He then allegedly threw Jayda on a bed, grabbed her by the leg and threw her “face first” onto the floor. Vaden told police he left the room and when he returned, he found her bleeding and unresponsive. Jayda was taken to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City where she later died. An autopsy revealed her cause of death was a head injury. Investigators say Vaden was upset that Jayda hadn’t put on her pajamas as he told her to. Vaden is described as the girl’s mother’s “live-in boyfriend.” After admitting to his actions, Vaden was charged with abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death and second-degree murder. The child’s mother, Devyn Kyle was cleared of any wrongdoing.

WWE Superstar, Rich Swann was arrested this weekend for allegedly battering and falsely imprisoning his wife -- who's also a pro wrestler -- and now he's suspended. According to cops, Swann was driving his newlywed wife, Vannarah Riggs, back home after a match of hers in Florida when they got into an argument in the car, which got heated. She reportedly exited the vehicle and Swann stopped the car in the middle of traffic to go get her, allegedly grabbing her by the arm and then putting her in a headlock to drag her back as she screamed for help. Witnesses told police the car was not in park during all this and continued to roll until it hit a telephone pole. Swann denied touching his wife, telling cops she got back in the car on her own.
